Shelter Insurance and VYPE Magazine presented Gabby Higbee with the 2021 Miss Softball Oklahoma Award Friday night at Dewey. Higbee is a senior at Dewey High School and has made her family and community proud. “The impact Gabby has made on her hometown is remarkable.” VYPE Media’s Rebekah McIntosh stated after talking with some of the locals. The Shelter Insurance Miss Softball Oklahoma Award is given to the top prep softball player in Oklahoma and is voted on by over 70 members of the media statewide. Higbee had an impressive record last fall while leading the Lady Bulldoggers to the Class 3A semifinals in the state tournament. She batted .562 with 59 hits, 10 homeruns and 29 RBIs. The senior hit 20 doubles and five triples with 14 base-on-balls. She accounted for 60 runs and carried a .617 OBP with a 1.750 OPS. Higbee also added 36 stolen bases. The outfielder held a fielding percentage of .978.
In basketball, Higbee averages 15 points per game, 6 rebounds and 4 assist. She is a well-rounded, solid athlete and you want her on your team. The Lady Bulldoggers were not able to get the W Friday night, but Higbee and her teammates played until the final buzzer. “It was a great night of basketball; both teams (boys and girls) showed up to play – and the crowd was at the edge of their seats” McIntosh commented.
Higbee is committed to play softball at the University of Tulsa this fall. VYPE Media is excited to see your next accomplishments at TU.
Congratulations Gabby! -2021 Shelter Insurance Miss Softball Oklahoma
